SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION

GEN is dedicated to reducing the number of out-of-school children throughout the world.

In rural Ghana, access to high quality primary school education remains a challenge for many young children.  GEN has now worked with two local communities to expand access to education and build new schools in these underserved regions.

GEN first helped build the Bright Future Orphanage School in Somanya, Ghana. Next, GEN took on its most ambitious project to date: building a primary school from the ground up in Mpraeso, Ghana. Working with an incredible team of architects, bankers, educators, and workers, GEN has helped build a school that will educate generations of young Ghanians.

SCHOOL SUPPORT

Many of the schools GEN serves lack basic resources such as school supplies, textbooks, and technology.

To date, GEN has provided our schools with a variety of resources necessary to educate their students, including:

  • purchasing computers for Baptist Primary School in Frankadua, Ghan

  • sending art supplies to the Light School in Uriri, Kenya

  • sending books and school supplies to schools in Quito, Ecuador

  • working with People to People to donate textbooks for our school in Mpraeso, Ghana

ADVOCACY & AWARENESS

Part of GEN's mission includes advocating for the schools we serve.  As GEN has grown over the last eight years, we have increasingly focused on facilitating partnerships among our schools and other organizations we work with.

GEN has also worked with filmmakers to produce documentaries about two of our most important projects: A Light in the Village and Madame Mpraeso.

GEN Founder and President Matthew Goeller and director Xander Moffat have screened the documentaries at schools and organizations throughout the East Coast, using the film to share our story and raise funds for the Light School in Uriri, Kenya and the Nana Bediako Memorial School in Mpraeso, Ghana.
